A Rewarding Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

A Rewarding Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

A couple of years ago, we put together a small wine dinner
featuring 10 years of Whitehall Lane Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
with a representative from the winery.I was a little apprehensive
initially because drinking California wines older than 10 years was
still a new experience for me. But I was very sure and determined that
they were ageing very well and will drink elegantly. Indeed they did,
all 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005,
showed vibrant fruit structure, silky elegant texture and fine balance. We
were particularly impressed with 1997 for that vintage was ranked #3 in
Wine Spectator’s 2000 Top 100 wines, and received 97 points.

Whitehall Lane 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

It has been a long while since we last offer this wine at a special price. But for this special and well-reviewed vintage, we set aside small some bottles for this purpose. There are just 2,270 cases made for this vintage which is blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec. We are not the only ones who are know about the age ability of the wine. Below are some reviews and rating for your reference.
“So broadly delicious now, it hardly seems worthwhile to age this wine, but don’t let it fool you. The blackberries, currants, dark chocolate, minerals and oak will only transform into something seamlessly complex with 8-10 years in the cellar. The winery’s Reserve bottling has established itself as one of the most consistently fine, age able Cabs in Napa Valley.” 93 points Wine Enthusiast“Exhibits a rich berry pie flavour, firming mid-palate and ending with a rustic, full-boded finish, with grainy tannins. Drink now through 2024.” 91 points Wine Spectator “…the quality level displaying more wood and tannins. Medium to full-bodied with lots of black fruit and spice characteristics, this pure, rich, classic Napa Cabernet can be drunk now and over the next 10 to 15 years…” 91 points Robert Parker.
